Train America Holdings, Inc. ("we") runs trainamerica.com and provides hands-on trades training to employers and their staff. This policy explains what information we collect, what we do with it, and your choices. Questions? Email admin@trainamerica.com.

What we collect

What you give us. When you fill in a form, buy seats or contact us: your name, email, phone number, company, job title, billing address, and anything you write in a message.
Attendee details from employers. When an employer enrolls someone, the employer gives us that person's name, contact details and job role. Employers may also tell us things like whether the person is still employed and how they're doing on the job, so we can track outcomes and results.
Training records. Attendance, assessment and simulation results, feedback, and certificates.
Payments. Stripe processes our payments. We receive a payment confirmation, the last four digits of the card, and the billing name and address. We never see or store full card or bank account numbers.
Photos and video. We sometimes take photos or video during courses. Tell us in writing if you don't want to appear, and we won't use photos or video of you in our marketing.
Website data. Your IP address, browser and device type, pages you visit, and the site that sent you, collected with cookies.

Sensitive information

We take extra care with information such as health or disability details you share when asking for changes to help you take part (for example, extra time on a test), and any other sensitive data we collect. We collect it only when we need it, use it only for the reason we asked, and share it only with people who need it, such as the training facility setting up those changes.

If a government workforce program pays for a seat, it may require us to collect details like your Social Security number and date of birth. We'll tell you at the time and use that data only for that program.

How we use it

To run our courses and keep you updated about them
To process payments and keep business records
To run assessments and issue certificates
To report to the employer that enrolled you (see below)
To improve our courses, including by publishing results that don't identify anyone
To send marketing, which you can opt out of at any time
To keep our systems secure, prevent fraud, and meet legal requirements

Who we share it with

The employer that enrolled you. If your employer paid for your seat, we share your attendance, assessment results and whether you completed the course. This is a core part of how our courses work. What your employer does with it is covered by their own policies.
Companies that help us. Payment processing, email and customer management, website hosting, analytics, online learning platforms, and the facilities where we teach. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
When the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or our rights.
If our business is sold or merged.
Anyone else, only with your permission.

We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We only name an employer in published results with that employer's written permission.

Texts and emails

If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your course, such as schedule changes, directions and reminders. We only send marketing texts if you've separately agreed to them. Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

Cookies

We use cookies to run the site, understand how it's used, and measure our marketing. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly.

How long we keep data

Training and payment records: 7 years, so completion can be verified later
Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them
Website analytics: up to 24 months
Everything else: only as long as we need it

How we protect data

We use reasonable safeguards, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Your choices

Email admin@trainamerica.com to get a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it. We'll respond within 45 days. We may need to keep some records the law requires, and if your employer gave us the information we may need to check with them first.

You can opt out of marketing emails or texts at any time.

Children

Our website and courses are for adults. Attendees must be 18 or older, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

We operate in the United States, and your information is stored here.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date above, and we'll let you know directly about any major changes.
